One of the reasons why Costa Rica has recently exploded on the outsourcing scene is predominantly its Costa Rican bi-lingual, bi-cultural, highly educated workforce. In many instances customers have no idea they are talking with someone in another country. The English is almost perfect and the slight Hispanic accent would normally not lead someone in the US to assume that they are speaking to a Costa Rican.
The reason for this is that today, Costa Rica plays host to hundreds of online casinos and poker rooms. Initially Costa Rica was a convenient location in relation to the U.S., but as online gambling has become more of an international pastime that benefit has become less relevant. The country’s long history of live gambling certainly helps, but Costa Rica offers so much more than history and location. The term outsourcing has been heavily used over the past few years, but oftentimes the meaning of this process is slightly misunderstood. If we were to give it a dictionary definition, outsourcing would be defined as an organization or individual transferring the responsibility of a business function to a 3rd party which could be a company or an individual. Some would argue that this is a simple business relationship, but with outsourcing there is a catch. The difference between a simple business relationship and outsourcing is the way the control over the business function is managed and replicated. Depending on the agreement the client can have as much or as little involvement on how the function is transferred over to the provider and in some cases the task is explained to the provider and it is there job to run with the ball.

Many of our clients have been able to build their businesses successfully as a direct result of outsourcing. One of the most common jobs that they outsource is appointment setting. If your company does any type of outside sales (and most do) having an outsourced telemarketing department is ideal. Think about it, if you tried to hire telemarketers in house, you have to set up office space, get office furniture, get special phone lines installed, get computers, etc. You even have to either manage them yourself or hire someone else to make sure that they’re showing up on time, working their agreed upon shift, calling properly, reading the scripts properly and performing the way that you want them to.
