Costa Rica lies between Panama and Nicaragua and it is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the North Pacific Ocean to the west. It is comprised of 51,100 square kilometers and the territorial waters take up about 589 square kilometers. It is considered a conglomeration of a number of landforms. The location of the country in the isthmus of Central America makes it easier to access American markets, which have the same time zone as Central US and also has access to Europe and Asia via the Oceans.

New research commissioned by Savvis shows that infrastructure outsourcing and cloud computing efforts are being taken very seriously by CIOs. IT leaders appear to be more oriented to reduction in infrastructure spending, where other industries such as media and retail, focus on staff reductions.
67 percent of all IT leaders are under pressure to do more with reduced budgets. (I would have expected an even higher percentage.)
52 percent of IT executives noted that the greatest cost savings will emanate from reducing infrastructure costs, reducing staff levels (49 percent) and a virtualization strategy (44 percent)

Costa Rica is not only famous for it’s agriculture and tourism it is also home to one of the best surfing beaches in the world, Hermosa Beach located on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Year after year thousands of surfers from around the world vacation in Costa Rica just because the swell is good! It attracts many of the Hollywood elite as well and is home to big name Surfing Competitions like this years Billabong World Surfing Competition.
August 5th of this year featured the Billabong International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games Costa Rica 2009. The competition was held in Playa Hermosa, because it has one of the most consistent and desired beach breaks on the Pacific Coast where deep water off the coast and exposure to different swells have built up a variety of sand bars.

On September 21, 2009 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, Costa Rican President Oscar Arias met with Hillary Rodham Clinton to discuss the San Jose Accords negotiated by Oscar Aries between President Zelaya and the de facto regime in Honduras. Costa Rica has long been considered the Switzerland of Latin America so it’s no wonder that Oscar Arias, respected as a global leader, would be called upon when tough decision regarding neighboring Latin American countries need additional leadership.

In a resent article written by Alex Leff medical science is making yet another breakthrough in Costa Rica. Dr. Orlando Morales is one of the leading Doctors at the CIMA Medical Center performing stem cell treatments.
“After a heart attack, they can begin to make new tissue. In a gland, which for example has to make insulin, the cells begin to create insulin. Nervous tissue, they regenerate it … It’s a panacea,” he said. An increasing number of foreigners are undergoing stem cell treatment in Costa Rica for ailments from bone fractures to multiple sclerosis. Costa Rican doctors say they are providing these medical tourists with groundbreaking treatments.

The World Bank has given Costa Rica an excellent bill of overall political and economic health. At its annual conference in El Salvador this year, the bank lauded the country as possessing “one of the most stable and robust” democracies in Latin America. It went on to praise the Costa Rica’s “healthy economic growth rate” and “some of the best social indicators” on the continent.
Costa Rica is one of the most vocal supporters of continental free trade, and already has its own agreement with Mexico and other countries of the region. Costa Rica’s numerous free trade zones and tax holiday opportunities are extremely enticing. They offer benefits such as exemption from import duties on raw materials, capital goods, parts and components; unrestricted profit repatriation; tax exemption on profits for eight years and a 50 percent exemption for the following four years.
